2nd install
« on: December 27, 2008, 10:25:06 am »

Hi

My gallery just died a few days ago. Most likely it's my fault ... but can't do anything about that now.

I am planning to reinstall the gallery. I still have the old database and all the user files. Is there any way to use the old database and files?

I was thinking of doing it like this:
1. Install a fresh gallery with a new database.
2. Copy the old files into the new installed gallery.
3. Point the new gallery to the old database.

Is this right? I really need some help.

Thank you.

No, that's wrong. Upgrading is being explained in the documentation that comes with coppermine, within the section that is surprisingly named "upgrading". Do exactly as suggested in the docs. Do not perform a fresh install unless you really know your way around, which you apparently don't.
