Upload leads to blank page
« on: December 10, 2008, 04:56:23 pm »

Everytime I try to upload this image it leads to a blank page.

Previously it would say 0 files upload successfully. I have fixed that, but now the page leads to nothing.

Test it out here:

URL:  http://epicpaper.com/renders/index.php

Test Username: Eleven
Test Password: abc123

The image is 5-6MB so I can attach it, here the link though.

Do as suggested in the asking for support on upload issues section of the docs and change the settings as suggested.

http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_support

Doing that will make more information on your problem visible and may enable you to solve your problem.

Having said that there are probably some server side restrictions preventing you from uploading this file or any file this big. If this is the case then either resize it on your desktop before upload or upload it via ftp and use batch add. More is explained here.

Before you do any of that upgrade to the latest version as you are a little behind..

I was having an issue with this as well.

Uploading a file 2400 x 2000, jpg

Using: GD2, PHP 5

I had cpm set to resize anything over 1500 pixels.

I started changing the memory_limit in the php.ini file from 8 to 16, then to 32, then to 64, then it finally worked at 96M.  Images are resized properly and I no longer get the blank page.  I would even get the "1 File Uploaded" and when I clicked "continue" I was getting the blank screen with no idea what was going on.  Even after following the suggested method mentioned earlier, although that did give some great insight as to what was going on.

I am running a virtual dedicated server on godaddy.  I have shell access which most people (I think) do not.  Hosting sites will usually have a help section that explains your process for changing the memory_limit.  Don't forget to reboot the httpd (apache) after any change to the php.ini file.

I host 6 other sites on this server, I wonder, would this global change in the php.ini file to the memory_limit effect the overall performance of the server?  So far, nothing noticeable.

ashelby it worked perfectly. Thanks!

And I will upgrade, is there something in the admin panel? Or am I just replacing files?

I will see if I can do it through cpanel as well.

If you upgrade using the link that Phill mentioned your theme will not change at all.

My fault, I misread it.

Do I have to reinstall the plugins?

Some might need re-installing.

Anyway, this is going off topic of the original thread. There is a one question per thread rule to make it easier for people to find answers. Try upgrading and if you run into problems start a new thread in the upgrading section.

Jmaj.  Awesome, glad it's working for you now!  If you allow bigger files, over 2,500 x 2,500 you may even want to go to 128M if your provider will let you.  I did not thoroughly test or do any kind of bench marking.  You may just want to upload the biggest file you plan on allowing and seeing how it is handled.

Tragg.  Thanks for the tip.  I downloaded the upgrade, I just haven't installed it yet.  I like to do that when I have some free time.  Upgrades don't always go as smoothly as planned.  I'll go ftp the new files and test.

Thanks
