high server load
« on: November 08, 2008, 07:03:32 am »

I host with lunarpages and have a screencaps gallery. Today, I received the following message from their technical support. Unfortunately, they've suspended my acct, so no one can actually go and look at it. (And when I tried to log in to cpanel to look at the files, I couldn't log in. So I don't know how i can fix anything if I can't log in....I've fired off an email to them about it.) This is what I was sent:

Hi, While monitoring the server which your account is hosted on, I noticed that your account is causing very high load on the server. We normally move accounts to a stabilization server when this occurs, but we are unable to do so for you because of the size of your account (12 GBs). Unfortunately, I will have to keep your account suspended until you make the necessary adjustments to your code/scripts, so it won't cause such high load on the server. Here is the information pertaining to the resources your account is using. CPU Usage: 11.70 Memory Usage: 7.12 MySQL Average Queries: 0.1 Top Process %CPU 16.0 /usr/bin/php /home/oracl11/public_html/oracle/CM_S3_S4/thumbnails.php Top Process %CPU 15.6 httpd [oracleofquantico.net] [/oracle/CM_S3_S4/themes/rainy_day/images/rating3.gif] Top Process %CPU 13.0 /usr/bin/php /home/oracl11/public_html/oracle/CM_S3_S4/displayimage.php

Can anyone make any suggestion from this info, as to what I should do. I'm very much a noobie with the "behind the scenes" parts of coppermine, ie PHP and MySql.  Any help would be appreciated--and if there's more info I need to provide, please, let me know.

Hi,

Maybe these threads can help:

http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,55117.0.html

A search might also help:

Thank you for the help. I had done a search but the second result you linked to was one I hadn't found and it lead me to what I hope is a resolution to the problem. I've just had my acct unsuspended and went in and made the changes--basically turning off the meta albums for random thumbs, most viewed and recently added. I noted in looking at the documentation it says that if you have over 10,000 images, having the random thumbs turned on can cause issues...and since I have over 50,000 images, I'm thinking that was the most likely culprit.

I probably won't know if the issue's 100% resolved for a day or so.

Thanks again!
