hi guys.

I just finished installation of Coppermine and now I just wanted to configure the gallerie. Everything looks fine by now, but theres one thing I am missing:

I would like to use the gallerie/board as a party forum where every user can post pics of parties they visited. As far as I can see coppermine in his standard version is not a good solution for this:



When a user enters the galliere and opens a categorie it should be possible to select an album directly. By now you first have to search the users for an album that fits to last nights party.
Do you understand what I mean?

If you click on privat party pics everybody should see a list of albums dealing with party pics sorted by date, so the latest party is on top.

could this be realised?

That's what public categories and albums are meant to be used for. Don't use personal galleries, but public (admin-created) albums. You (as admin) create them and then allow users to upload to them. Drawback is that users can't create new albums in public categories. They can only use the ones you created for them.

yes but a public kategorie where users can not create an album doesnt help me much.

imaging: you want to post ur pics of the madonna concert then u have to ask the admin if he creates this album, then u can upload them. thats too difficult!
and if they just upload the pics into to public party forum, all the pics are mixed up.

I need a solution where users can create albums directly within a category! either in public or in privat kategory.

Then maybe coppermine is not the right solution for you. The feature you ask for will be in cpg1.5.x (no scheduled release date yet), while it doesn't exist in cpg1.4.x and there is no mod nor hack to accomplish what you're up to with cpg1.4.x

No. I don't look at other galleries. Google is your friend. Marking thread as "closed".
