Post a link to your gallery and a non-admin test user account that has the privilege to add files to favorites.
Not related to install, moving accordingly.

if you go under any album and check under each thumb, where is the option to add what you checked to favorites? I can not find it!

The little checkbox on the thumbnails page is not part of coppermine's core. It comes with a hack that you must have applied. If it doesn't work as expected, ask the person who created that hack.
