Hidden categories?

Please excuse me if this has been asked before...

I want to know if I can set categories and albums to not be visible on the index or album list page but are still accessible with direct links. I don't want to hide ALL of the categories from the main page, just a couple that I want to link back to elsewhere on the site.

Without modifying core code, you can't hide categories, as permissions go by album, not by category. Therefor, all categories are public out-of-the-box. In other words: coppermine doesn't have the feature you're requesting.

thanks, i think i have figured out a way to make it flow the way i want using a lot of sub-categories in one main category
