upload prob need ur help plz
« on: September 16, 2008, 09:12:34 pm »

Hello i'v been up and down this forum and can't find what i'm looking for so i desided to post this topic i'm sorry if i missed it if someone's alrdy posted this...

Anyways i'm having probs trying to upload to my coppermine in any mode admin or user.

Heres what happens....  and i'm sure it's all set right but i could be wrong.  when i upload a video i goto the first upload file screen and pick the video that i want to upload off my computer (.WMV) now when i hit upload it takes awile as it's doing it's thing but at the end it refresh's the page and sometimes it says 0 files uploaded even when when trying the same file..  i was thinking at first it could be something with the max_upload size phpinfo says it has my custom php.ini file loaded that has the max size set to 24M in it but in the phpinfo stats it still says 2M but i have managed to get a few videos uploaded one that is 5mb and another that is 2mb so i do think it's reading the 24M setting and even when i rename the files i'v uploaded from my computer and try to do it again it does'nt work...  al my other setting are the same as the docs say to set...

i also thought maybe it was the file format but i'v tryed almost everything.

If anyone would like to help me out i'd be so happy....

anyone who can help message me and i'll make u a account to take a look.

Thankx - Brian sarty

Next time, before search the forum, read docs.  ;)

...and don't use the admin mode / user mode toggle to try to figure out what permissions users have. Read up the docs what the toggle is meant to be used for: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#admin_user_mode

No, you have not. At least not thoroughly enough. Re-read the docs, especially the stuff highlighted in red. For your convenience, I'm quoting the relevant section, highlighting the stuff you apparently failed to read in bold:
Quote
Asking for support on upload issues

When asking for support on the coppermine forum, post a link to your site and a test user account (the test user mustn't be in the admin group!) with upload privileges, with the above mentioned settings in place - this way, supporters can see the error messages as well. Do not post debug_output unless requested. If you want fast results, you should disable admin approval for the group the test user is in, so supporters can tell instantly what is wrong without needing to double-check.

When people have issues with uploading and decide to post their question on the Coppermine support board, they usually are told to read this upload troubleshooting section. Many of them fail to do so properly, which results in frustration both for users as well as supporters. To make this absolutely clear: the above mentioned steps are absolutely mandatory, no matter what skill level you have, no matter what upload method you have troubles with. Failing to do exactly as suggested will result in your request for help being ignored. Yes, this applies to you. We mean it!

And please use a better subject next time you start a thread... ::)
