Search - can it also be set to search user comments ?
« on: September 16, 2008, 02:12:22 pm »

Hi

I guess a self explanatory question heading - search already covers a number of fields, however I've worked through the online documentation and wasn't able to find an answer as to whether "user comments" can be added to the list of fields being searched.

I'd quite like to be able to add this capability as I suspect it might help drive user registrations on my site, as then users can contribute to the usefulness of the photo database by making the search function more accurate by indexing richer (ie user contributed) data.

Is this is possible to do - and if so, does anyone have an example anywhere I can look at to see how its done ?

many thanks

Tim

It's possible but I don't think there is any code posted on how to accomplish it. If you have a lot of comments this will probably be very slow.

OK, thanks for considering it - never mind then.

I was hoping it was going to be a simple 'define "comments in this file, then add "comments" int to search.php' - if not its probably beyond my skill level anyway  ;)
