[Solved]: theme uploads
« on: August 13, 2008, 09:04:29 pm »

Hi,
I uploaded a new theme and also tried making my own theme.
One of these caused a problem.
For my my_theme theme, I followed the directions in the manual.
The other theme I uploaded was chaoticsoul.
The problem I'm having is that my albums don't show up anymore on the index page.
They also don't show on the index page with any of the themes now and they did before I added those two.
To try to solve the problem, I deleted both new themes. That didn't help.
Then I re-uploaded the themes that came with the installation. That didn't help either.
I'm new to coppermine and everything went smoothly with the installation and creation until this.
What do I need to do to get my albums to show on the index page?

Thanks.

For a start, you should post a link to your gallery, since we're not mind readers and can't tell by your posting only what went wrong.

The problem is...before I uploaded those other 2 themes...my albums showed/listed on the index page. Now all I get is the category and then have to click to see the albums in the halloween category.
Originally, on the first page there was the category section with 6 albums showing with thumbnails & descriptions. Under that was the random files thumbnails and then under that the thumbnails from the last addons.
I would rather have the albums listed with thumbnails than the random files and last addons.

Thanks for answering.

I'm not sure, but i think, when albums are in a category they will never be shown outside of this category. Correct me, if i'm wrong.

You need to enable first level albums thumbs in config. Random files and last additions are also config options.

Thanks! That worked! Got the albums back on the main page and got rid of the other 2.

Side-note to others: not related at all to themeing. As Nibbler suggested: those are config options that apply for all themes unless the theme author explicitely overwrites config settings. If this is the case, the theme author will definitely tell you about this in the readme file that comes with his theme as well as the announcement thread for his theme.
