hacked again?
« on: June 27, 2008, 10:45:36 am »

Hi all,

Just noticed our gallery looked different and a few subtle changes to it's layout. Also, no sign-ups (paid gallery) but thought 'things' were just quiet. Looked into it a bit deeper and the blinking version of coppermine has reverted back to .17, I upgraded a month or two ago to .18 after that terrible hacking that went round.

Can anyone hazard a guess how the system can revert back to a previous version? Have we been hacked again I wonder :-(

Any thoughts appreciated,

Maybe problems on the webhost's part? They might have had to roll back a backup, maybe because of a hard disk crash. Ask them. Posting a link to your gallery might help as well. Another option would be looking at the file's time stamps (using your FTP app) and of course looking at your server's log (if you have access to it).
Another possible option: the hacker might have left a backdoor behind that you haven't fully sanitized, so maybe he came back and re-applied the hack. Impossible to tell for sure with so little information.
