cambiare homepage

sono andato in configurazione ---> URL dell'Homepage --->
il valore predefinito è chiaramente index.php
io ho provato a cambiarlo, ma mi cambia solo il link nell'header.
C'è un modo per cambiare l'homepage a mio piacimento? Vorrei ad esempio cambiare la pagina iniziale in base ad alcune mie esigenze e passare da una categoria all'altra ogni settimana.
E' possibile?
