My coppermine site is hacked - Google informed me of this
« on: April 20, 2008, 02:17:05 pm »

I have been informed by Google that my coppermine is hacked.  Each time I try to load the page,  my anti-virus software says it detected a trojan.

I am using Coppermine version 1.4.14 (supplied by Vodahost through fantastico).

How do I rectify and upgrade?  I am trying to follow the instructions given for the upgrade but I am lost in how to copy and backup the files.   I cannot even FTP to my own site,  so how do I copy any files out?

Please help.  I am quite ignorant in this matter.  Normally I upgrade when Fantastico says there is an upgrade.

I need my site cleaned out - so please help. ???

There are a myriad of recent threads about this very topic, including (at least) two sticky announcement topics.  Please search before posting questions.

I cannot even FTP to my own site,  so how do I copy any files out?

Also, why can't you FTP to your own site?  The hack had nothing to do with FTP...

Fantastico sucks and goes unsupported here, so you shouldn't refer to nor rely on it.

In other words; to get support for Coppermine here you download 1.4.18 and do a clean manual install without using Fantastico.

A clean install is not needed. Perform the upgrade and sanitization.
