Batch add fails
« on: February 29, 2008, 12:45:18 pm »

I have uploaded a fair few images to a folder in the album folder of copermine. It has the correct permissions and so do the other folders in the album folder. When I go to batch add it finds all my images in the directory I state, and when I press ok it shows me the list of images and thumbnails. I select where I want them to be added and then press ok at the bottom. It loads for a second and then takes me back to the select directory page again without adding any of the images. I have tried just trying to add 1 or 2 images but it still doesnt work. Any tips or advice?

Ok in debug mode with notices on I get this when the load the page with the thumbnails on and where it allows you to select which images I want to add. Also when I click ok at the bottom I get another similar notice. If you wish I will try n post the full debug mode log file if that helps.

Ok been messing around with some settings and heres where I stand. First off the site location is www.merlinmediavault.co.uk. I can upload both single and multiple files via the site (http), but when I come to getting the FTP batch add to work I get the above problem

Read up the docs, especially the sections "upload troubleshooting" and "asking for support on upload issues". You had a bad start, as you did everything the other way around than what we expect support requests to look like. Read the instructions in the documentation I refered to and do exactly as suggested there.

Read those sections. Read them carefully and do exactly as suggested there. If you're too lazy to read, send me $500 and I'll read that section over the phone for you. Too pricy? Then read that section for yourself.

That section doesnt tell me to do anything other than to check the permissions which I have and to create a test account and to try uploading via HTTP, which I have. I can send you the debug code if you like but I only running my site on Admin mode cause the gallery is not fully live. It tells me not to post in admin mode, but that is the only mode that is setup to work. I cannot see why you cannot just ask for what it is you want and then let me get it for you. All I want is some help using your software, which until now, has been faultless.

Anyways I asked around and someone had a simular problem and it was to do with with GD software or something like that.

OK, let me quote the section "Asking for support on upload issues" to you that I want you to read:
Quote
Asking for support on upload issues
When asking for support on the coppermine forum, post a link to your site and a test user account (the test user mustn't be in the admin group!) with upload privileges, with the above mentioned settings in place - this way, supporters can see the error messages as well. Do not post debug_output unless requested. If you want fast results, you should disable admin approval for the group the test user is in, so supporters can tell instantly what is wrong without needing to double-check.

When people have issues with uploading and decide to post their question on the Coppermine support board, they usually are told to read this upload troubleshooting section. Many of them fail to do so properly, which results in frustration both for users as well as supporters. To make this absolutely clear: the above mentioned steps are absolutely mandatory, no matter what skill level you have, no matter what upload method you have troubles with. Failing to do exactly as suggested will result in your request for help being ignored. Yes, this applies to you. We mean it!
I highlighted the important part - the part that you so stubbornly refuse to read. The link http://www.merlinmediavault.co.uk/ doesn't work as expected, it is down. There is no trace of the test user account that you're suppossed to post.

but I only running my site on Admin mode cause the gallery is not fully live. It tells me not to post in admin mode, but that is the only mode that is setup to work.
That's complete and utter nonsense: admin mode vs. user mode is not related at all. It says that you're suppossed to post a test user account that doesn't have admin privileges. That's an entirely different animal. Stop being so difficult if you want help.
