Adding random thumbnail to main site??

I apologize if this has been addressed before...I did some searching and couldn't find anything.  I would like to know if there is code I can add to my homepage (it is outside coppermine) that would display one random thumbnail from a specific album...not all albums.  

Secondly, is there code I can add to the homepage that would display the total number of images in my gallery?
