can't upload files
« on: February 05, 2008, 05:00:41 pm »

Hi there!

First of all... my permissions:

/albums = 755 checked!

/albums/userpics = 777 checked!

/albums/edit = 777 checked!

when I tried to upload a file I obtain that message:

Quote
The previous file could not be placed.
You have successfully placed all the files.

I search in the forum... and I will be redirect to here:

http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_trouble

I follow the guideliness... when I save the new settings... I obtain this:

Quote
Critical error:

The file 'albums/userpics/10001/mipscraps-lemon~1.jpg' can't be inserted in the album

Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image.

File: /home/charming/public_html/gallery/db_input.php - Line: 402

then, I read here

http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=48761.0

about "Method for resizing images"

I had ImageMagick

I change to GD2

but now... I obtain this error:

Quote
Selected album does not exist or you don't have permission to upload in this album

File: /home/charming/public_html/gallery/db_input.php - Line: 305

so, I turn again to ImageMagick

and here I am... asking for help

username: testing
pass: 123456

thanks in advance!

Not the recommended method - coppermine is not a desktop app where you uninstall and re-install. Anyway, if this fixed your issue - fine; I marked your thread accordingly as "solved". Just wanted to state that this is not the recommended method to trouble-shoot. In fact, this thread started wrong in the first place - you should do exactly as suggested in the upload troubleshooting section of the docs if you have upload issues.

Hi Joachim
Why you said I started wrong whis thread? I read all in the the upload troubleshooting section of the docs, I check my permissions... I made the changes suggested... I give you an username and pass with admin permissions... but I can't continue waiting because my members and designers claim me the gallery... I made a search and read each thread about this problem... without success...
I read in some thread about the bad installations from inside the server... and I have an installation from inside the server... so... I think may be I need uninstall and install again manually... and I do this... and works...

You may have read the upload troubleshooting section of the docs, but you definitely haven't done as suggested there. However, I'm not inclined to argue with you. My reply wasn't aimed at you, but at others with similar issues. If you want to find out what you did wrong, read up the upload troubleshooting section extra carefully. Locking.
