Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image
« on: January 31, 2008, 07:48:05 am »

Okay so I followed the manual precisely but when I try to batch-add files I get this:
"unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image"

I've created a test account:
username: test
password: testing

Debug mode is turned on.

The only thing I'm getting is that on the page where you select your photos and what album they will go in, it says this at the top:
"Warning: the script can't write in this directory, you need to change its mode to 755 or 777 before trying to add the files !"

my albums/uploads folder IS 777...I also tried doing 755 but it still didn't work...

Read the docs, sections "upload troubleshooting" and "asking for support on upload issues". Required: number of file upload fields: 1, number of URI upload fields: 0. Your current settings: number of file upload fields: 5, number of URI upload fields: 3 (default).
Supporters hate to be forced to repeat the same thing over and over: RTFM and do as suggested there. Only post after having read the docs. Don't make it so hard for us to support you.

I'm so sorry, I fixed it.
To clarify: you haven't fixed your upload issues, but you have corrected the number of upload fields.

Went to your site once again; actual error message is
Quote
No file was uploaded !

If you have really selected a file to upload, check that the server allows file uploads...

File: /home/bradpai/public_html/gallery/db_input.php - Line: 311
. Pretty frequent error message, read up Upload trouble and Upload issue and do as suggested in those threads. Your issues are related to server setup.

Any particular reason for not answering my additional question:

I don't get that error message. I get exactly what I posted. Here's a screen shot:
http://brad-paisley.net/screenshot.jpg

When I click on "click for details or to reload" I get the message "unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image"

And I didn't answer the other question because I didn't see it, but no, she no longer runs the site, I do.

You need to fix http uploads first and make sure they work as expected before you can start to use the batch-add feature. The error message I posted comes from the http uploads page. Do as I suggested:
read up Upload trouble and Upload issue and do as suggested in those threads. Your issues are related to server setup.

I read through those and quite honestly I have no idea what upload trouble is talking about, except about permissions taking awhile to take effect. Do I need to talk to my webhost about reseting permissions? I'm trying to make sense out of that thread but I just don't get it.  ???

Here's what others did with similar issues:
For nearly all of those issues you'll need to ask your webhost for support.
Read up the section from the preliminary documentation for cpg1.5.x - it applies to your issue as well: http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/upload_troubleshooting.htm#no_file_uploaded
