Plugin wont install
« on: January 26, 2008, 06:19:31 pm »

Hi Everyone. I wanted to play flash movies in Coppermine, so I downloaded Nibbler's Filetype Editor Plugin (« Last Edit: March 09, 2006, 02:32:01 PM by Nibbler »)
I used the plugin manager to upload the plugin and I checked through FTP that the file had been installed and unpacked. I refreshed the page of the Plugin installer and then clicked on the install (i). Then I get this error

Critical error
There was an error while processing a database query
I cannot get this plugin to install..... I guess I've missed a critical point at some point..... any chance someone could steer me in the correct direction?

Regards,
Steff

mySQL error: Duplicate entry 'Filetypes editor' for key 2

does this tell you anything?

OK... I'm cool with that but the plugin manager says its not installed... Shall I just ignore this and carry on then?

You could delete the Filetypes editor entry from the plugins table using phpmyadmin and then run the install again.

You need to look in the plugins table in the coppermine database. If you are not sure what you are doing then don't mess with the database atall.

I understand what you're saying.... If you're sure the plugin is installed I'll leave it at that
But the only entries I could find were these:
 plugin_id     int(10)      No
name    varchar(64)    No
path    varchar(128)    No
priority    int(10)    No     0

Thanks again.

Steff

That's the structure of the table, not its contents. To see inside the table you have to click on 'browse'.

Ok... Nibbler. I think you're right I should wait until I've learned enough about Mysql before I continue, or I'm likely to delete working tables and down with that database it goes...
Anyway, you've been kind enough to explain to me what the error was about and now I'm simply wasting your time.
I'll continue with the plugin as it is and hope it works :)

Thanks again for all the help!

Ok... you knew I'd come back.... I've continued with the rest of the installation of the article by rphMedia "
Another FLV Player " and I'm assuming that once your mode was up and running I would be able to access it through the admin panel... but cannot. I need to inatall "flv     application/x-shockwave-flash     movie     Flash Player" and then its all working... so I guess the plugin hasn't installed properly.... any guidance would be appreciate.
I have tried to remove the plugin and then reinstall it but get the same error.

Steff

What happens when you try to access the filetypes manager? Is the menu option there?

Delete the entry and install again.

Code: [Select]
DELETE FROM cpg14x_plugins WHERE path = 'filetypes_editor' LIMIT 1

Nibbler.... you're a genius

Thanks so much for your patients> I deleted the entry in Mysql and the plugin manager allowed the plugin to install straight away.

I really do appreciate your help.
