Logon problems
« on: January 21, 2008, 08:58:38 am »

Hello,

Yesterday we had the problem of after log on, a blanco page, but that seems to be solved.
Now, we can see all, log on, but after the log on, there is no log on.

Are the moderators able to help and please tell me, why do I have so much troubles with this gallery?
Coz, since the moment we started with this, we have problems.
Up till now, I cannot recommend this gallery to others (yes, I am a little disappointed in this, it takes to much time!)

Thanx in advance, Marco

You should have done exactly as I suggested when PMing me. Please read instructions more thoroughly next time.
You failed to say in your initial post that you're being sent to a blank page when entering your login data (no matter what credentials you enter). So it's not a matter of wrong credentials or improper cookie setup. Blank pages can be caused by various reasons: sometimes, it's related to missing files; sometimes it's caused by file corruption. Happens often when using an editor that is not fit for editing code files to modify coppermine files. Can be caused by using the improper FTP mode in your FTP app or by using a "bad" FTP app in the first place.
To make this all go away, perform an upgrade (even though you already appear to be using the most recent stable release cpg1.4.14). During this process, you'll be replacing all core files with the ones from a fresh package. Pay particular attention to use the proper FTP mode and to use a "real" FTP app (we recommend FileZilla).

You must be getting tired of this eh?
Ok, I try to log on; fill in my name and password.
It say's: welcome back Mercator!
Then, nothing happens. I dont see in the right corner that I am logged.
So, I cannot even go to the panel and update.
The whole software is useless for me at this moment.

Before you kick my ass again: I just offer my customers our event photos.
I know nothing about programming. The one who maintain the website is not
a programmer. She makes websites by special software. She already told me
when something happens, she cannot help me.

Other people recommended the Coppermine Photoalbum.
So that is the reason why I am using it.
But it is a complete difficult system. It was a big party to let it work it self.
From there, it started to give troubles in the first place, coz we had updated it twice
and lost all the photos. That is the reason why it is still empty.

So, I can imagine you would say: C-Ya! Go to fotopic.net or use other photoalbums!
I could do that too... coz I want an EASY working program. Not one who is so difficult
and need maintaining every two months. Do you understand me a bit?

So, hopefully you're able to help, or we 'shake hands' and I will leave Coppermine as it is.

You don't perform the upgrade using some sort of wonder-panel. You just upload the files using your FTP app. As Nibbler discovered, one of coppermine's core files is missing. Upload it and you should be fine. Having performed the upgrade would have resulted in the same thing.
