Usefull projects to coppermine gallery .....
« on: January 14, 2008, 01:46:43 am »

Hi, i like coppermine gallery, i think so maybe how wishlist, the follow project's can be usefull to coppermine gallery.

* reCaptcha (http://recaptcha.net/learnmore.html)
Quote
A CAPTCHA is a program that can tell whether its user is a human or a computer. You've probably seen them — colorful images with distorted text at the bottom of Web registration forms. CAPTCHAs are used by many websites to prevent abuse from "bots," or automated programs usually written to generate spam. No computer program can read distorted text as well as humans can, so bots cannot navigate sites protected by CAPTCHAs.

* akismet
Only like this can be integrated for default in coppermine gallery  ;).

* Bad-Behavior (http://www.homelandstupidity.us/software/bad-behavior/)
Quote
Bad Behavior is a set of PHP scripts which prevents spambots from accessing your site by analyzing their actual HTTP requests and comparing them to profiles from known spambots. It goes far beyond User-Agent and Referer, however. Bad Behavior is available for several PHP-based software packages, and also can be integrated in seconds into any PHP script.

* Project HoneyPot (http://www.projecthoneypot.org/about_us.php)
Quote
Project Honey Pot is the first and only distributed system for identifying spammers and the spambots they use to scrape addresses from your website. Using the Project Honey Pot system you can install addresses that are custom-tagged to the time and IP address of a visitor to your site. If one of these addresses begins receiving email we not only can tell that the messages are spam, but also the exact moment when the address was harvested and the IP address that gathered it.

Greeting's  :D.

Captcha is already implemented for cpg1.5.x.
We're aware that spam is an issue and needs to be fought. That's why we implemented some improved anti-spam mechanisms for the next coppermine version. Most promising would be adding akismet to coppermine as an option. However, it's not a solution for everybody, since they only allow free usage for non-profit users.
