New theme - 'Transmission' for CM-1.2.1 - (dev-post)
« on: March 25, 2004, 06:12:08 am »

Hi

I've been playing :)

Just finished a theme for coppermine named 'Transmission'
It was originally based on my 'Hardwired' theme, but i thought my original theme needed some improvements.

The theme is an auto-stretching 100% width high-tech style in greys.

I've done all the testing i can, now it's over to you... please feel free to check it out using the link below.

http://www.hardwired.myftp.org/coppermine/index.php

I will distribute the zip file after some test feedback, if poss (admins) would it be possible to include this theme in the distro instead of the 'Hardwired' theme? - anyways, lemme know what you think of the theme, cheers

kewl - awesome

Looks like I have found the theme for my personal Gallery :) There is only one thing which I feel is a bit odd - the distance between the main menu and begining of the frame is too much...

yes, this is really a very nice theme. There's one issue that should be fixed imo: when viewing 800x600 intermediates (e.g. http://www.hardwired.myftp.org/coppermine/displayimage.php?pos=-226 ) on a screen resolution of 1024x768, there is to much whitespace (margin/padding) at the left and right of the pic, showing a horizontal scroll-bar. I'm looking forward to the release of this theme as well. Awesome!

It's just taken me an age to work out why this theme looks and runs perfectly in Mozilla (1.6) rather than this 'whitespace' issue with IE, anyways i've done some tweeking and it should be ok for both browsers.

I'm also gonna included an alternative templete where the menu buttons are along the left side of the main gallery table.... (you'll see what i mean when done)

cheers

I like it, but for me the side menu is too wide, and with 5 thumbs per row, I am having to side scroll (1024 x 768).  Will this be a config choice, side menu or top menu, or will it mean choosing which template to upload.

Casper, in Mozila it's absolutly perfect all round, even showing large pix, the side padding just gets squidged up (as it should) - for some unexplainable reason IE (when viewing an intermediate image) adds around 30-40 pixels of padding on each side (left & right) - even though i've set the 'tableb' style to 1-2px padding and even the theme html uses another style alltogether for displaying an image...it's gonna take a while to sort me thinks.

Check the links below to show you what i mean.

I have no idea if any of these could be the problem, but I thought I'd try to be helpful.

So far if i apply a 'fix' to the IE double indent bug whatever, it arses up the style in both browsers, not sure what to do now... i read about the WC3 browser standards (for which Mozilla complies to) and IE still has this bug, Micro$oft do what they like i suppose, anyways i'll keep trying if i cannot make it look right in both browsers i'll release it anyways with a text file explaining that IE is a pain in the ass

If you're going to do both layouts, the one with the menu at the top is not a problem for me, it's only now you have the menu at the left.

I'm sticking with the menu on the left, its good and if it works in Mozilla and looks good without any basterd white-space double up bugs then it's staying that way, i've been trying for hours to get this IE bug sorted with somekinda display: inline; CSS tag fix, but i'm blowed if i can...

About a year ago now i thought IE was the don, but then something changed my mind, now all i use is Mozilla... now this 'bug' has even more convinced me IE needs sorting...

I'm still gonna try and fix this though

I hope you get it.  I understand your outlook on this, but the unfortunate fact is most of my users are not into messing with computers, and just use the browser it came with, i.e., IE.  Most of them don't even update it, although I regularly tell them.

Almost there, seems to work ok in both IE and Mozilla/Firefox etc

Just need to do some final tweeks etc and it's done, i'll also include a text file with the setting i've used (5 pix in filmstrip - 500px med-sized image etc...)

Excellent work.

And I have tested it (not exhaustively) on 1.3.0 and it works fine on that as well.

No problems I will hack one once you are done with it...

@b6,
do you still have the top menu layout, as you first posted.  If so, could you make that template available as well please.
