XP Publishing reg file import error
« on: December 11, 2007, 06:07:52 pm »

I searched the board for an error the Xp publishing registry file gives upon install.  the only one I found was for cpg 1.3
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=14542.0

here is the issue.  I get this error upon trying to enter the info into the registry..

Cannot Import .......\CPG_1197391615.REG: The specified file is not a registery script.
You can only import binary registry files from within the registery editor.

Any help would be appreciated..

Post a link to your gallery and a non-admin test user account for a start. ::)

Seek and destroy the whitespace at the top of your pages. It will break other things too unless you fix it.

are you meaning the css styles in the theme  such as:          white-space: nowrap;        ??

Wait. I see what you are saying.  the .reg file had a bunch of space at the beginning.  I delete that and it worked.  This is awesome!

I deleted some of the space in the xp_publish file, but still getting some weird characters on the first line right now..

Look at the source of any of your pages. You will see 8 blank lines. You need to go through the code and find where you have added these 8 blank lines and remove them.

I see it - at the top of all pages.  All I have edited is the theme..  I will check into it..

thanks for your help.  Any idea on which file to start looking at, since I am sure you ran across this issue before?

Well, if I change the theme, the space is still there, so that resolved the theme issue..  will keep looking and post the result when I find it.

since the xp_publish.php does not actually appear within the 'gallery' itself, rather just checks to see if the gallery is there, would the white space problem not be coming from it, rather the rest of the gallery?

Coppermine does not come with that whitespace; it is something you have added. I cannot tell you where it is since I don't have that knowledge.

I checked all the php files in my install and deleted all the space after the ?> and none was found before the <?php

I reuploaded the original cpg1414 files and had no change.
Disabled all plugins and no change.
I am using Stramms modpack, so I reupload that again from the original files, with no change..
I also changed to a different theme, with no luck..

Keep in mind I am deleting my cache before each reload to see if the source changes..

What else can I try??

Use a tool like Winmerge, set it up not to ignore whitespace differences and then compare your files with a vanilla copy (download a fresh one first).

Working on it.

What is the index.php file in the lang folder supposed to containt?  it shows PK and 3 'zeros'.. but they both show different in WinMerge although they appear to be the same..

Okay - I unzipped a vanilla copy of of cpg1414.zip into another folder, then installed stramm_mod1.4.14.bridge ontop of it, so I have a fresh duplicate of what I shold have install.

I scanned and editing all the files that had space issue at the bottom, and some in between without touching a couple that were heavily edited from the mod pack.  Now all is identical other than 3 files, including the index.php in the lang directory that I mentioned (I did upload the fresh copy of index.php to the lang directory, just to see)

I am using the classic theme set, from the fresh CPG copy.

With all that, the space is still showing..
Is this space causing the issue in the .reg generation in the xp_publish.php file?

Well, after uploading a new copy with the mod pack and installing it.  I added all the plugins and one by one it worked fine until the  Copy /Paste html code image url v1.2  plugin came up.  The 8 lines were added to the end of the codebase.php file!  Thanks for all the help on the white space.. xp publishing is working now also!

Thanks!

Please post a link to the announcement thread of the plugin that caused issues for you.

The plugin wasn't causing the issue.  It is the fact that when I added my modifications to the script, I apparently added the white space to the bottom of the codebase file.  Either way, here is the link:  http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=36302.0

Again, thanks for the help!

OK, thanks for returning and posting your solution. You might want to review your editor - if you can configure it accordingly, make sure that it doesn't add whitespace on it's own. If you can't, you may want to use another editor. I can recommend Bluefish and Notepad++ - both of them are open source and free. Both of them don't add whitespace on their own.
