idiots guide to uploading movies
« on: December 07, 2007, 11:35:31 pm »

Hi,
i've been thru the info available and it still doesn't make sense to me.
Is there a definitive guide or tutorial available?

You upload movies the same way as regular images. Try to ask more specific questions.

Basically: yes. As movie files tend to be large, you might consider FTP upload plus batch-add instead of http uploads to be save in terms of timeouts.

2. what format is the best or most common to use/
There are thousands of codecs. Most Windows users are going to shout "Windows Media Video" (aka WMV). Purists will say "Flash". Mac users will say "MOV". Leechers will say "DivX". People who don't know their way around will say "AVI" (which is nonsense). This discussion is not related to Coppermine though. As you appear to be a newbie, I'd say "use WMV".

Gaugau,

I appreciate what you say. Sorry if it was off topic, as you say I'm a newbie and hopefully this will also be a help to other newbies.

Once again thanks for taking the time and for your patience
