Adding large numbers of files

What is the maximum number of files you can ad using mass upload, i have uploadet 1400 files at 400 mb and i am trying to set them into a grupe but i cannot do so... what can my problem be?

I added bigger numbers then 1400
It all depends on your server's power
My first server barely handled adding 20-30 now i have a powerful hosting it adds a few thousand in just minutes
Just are with it add them in more batches split that folder in 3 or something

Actually depends on many factors:
  • Your bandwith / connection speed
  • File size, dimensions and color depth of the pics that you add
  • The image library you use (GD vs. ImageMagick)
  • Server resources (various thresholds concerning time-outs, max processing etc.), most of them determined in php.ini (when webhosted, you usually can't modify those settings)

In fact, your question is (due to the above mentioned reasons) a bit irrelevant - it's similar to the question "how fast can a vehicle go?" - the answer depends on the type of vehicle (tank? sports car? offroad? compact? formula one racer?) and the surface (highway? dirt track? racing circuit?)... ;)
