im not exactly sure why it wont let me connect to the database, but i keep getting.

"Could not create a mySQL connection, please check the SQL values entered

MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)"

i have changed the database name and users and stuff and i keep getting the same error.

i just checked my other databases and they arent working either. could the server be in "safe mode"

Check if you can acces your database with another app, like phpMyAdmin. If you're webhosted and your db connection used to work it's possible that your webhost has changed server config without notifying you.
