iPhone compatability?
« on: September 23, 2007, 04:47:37 am »

I had no idea where to post this.
Anyone try to access a Coppermine gallery via their iPhone? If you are on a site where you can click a thumbnail and have a new image open up in a new window, the window will open but the image doesn't load. Anyone have any experience with this? Just curious about this.

It seems you are referring to a modded gallery. Please post a link to it. Do you have an iphone? If so, could you check the built-in popup on displayimage when it goes from "normal" to "full"?

Hey sorry I didn't answer your question.

When you say "built in" popup do you mean the "alt" info of the "large" photo? Or what?
And when you say I must be using a modded gallery you mean I must be using a gallery that is using plug-ins..?

Also, it still really isn't working.
I tried it with several different themes--still wouldn't work, tried a fresh install (no plugins)--still didn't work. If I go to the image directly it works fine. If I go to someone else's gallery it works fine also when I click on the image to open it. Do you think this could be my server?

I realized the problem is the site I was having problems on was using GD and you have to be using ImageMagick for it to work...odd.
If you're using GD your iphone won't open the images!

Any way to reprocess all of my images that were converted with GD and reconvert them with ImageMagick?

I'd edit my posts so I'm not posting so many times but I can't figure out how. Anyway, just wanted to let people know that it ISN'T ImageMagick, it's the friggin resolution of the image! If it's too large the phone won't load it for some reason. I tried it with a full resolution image (2000x2000px roughly) and it didn't worked, resized to 50%, and it worked. Just FYI.

Yeah, 2000x2000 is too big for mobile phones. Also keep in mind that not all phones have fast access so be a bit more conservative with the file size or else people are going to give up.
