Photos not being recognised

We're moving our photogallery.  We did have version 1.3 and upgraded to 1.4 before the move.

We installed 1.4 on the new site, uploaded the album/userpics and uploaded to sql dump into the new database.

I've ran update.php on the new site but still it doesn't recognise the albums and photos in album/userpics.

Can anyone shed any light on what I've done wrong or need to do?

Installing 1.4. on the new site is not part of the instructions for moving a gallery. Review the documentation.
