Page tabs not working

I have looked, and looked but cannot find my answer.  I am a new user to coppermine.  I have set and reset the page tabs in the config menu several times but my album only allows me to view or edit the first 8 images and I cannot get it to initiate page tabs to allow viewing of the additional photos.  Am I not doing something correct?  Please help.
