I have an itsy problem, and there's two solutions. Can you help me with either? (i only need one)

First solution-Renumber the albums
My albums are sorted alphabetically and i want the first one to be 1, the second 2, and so on.
And user galleries to be at the end of the others.



Second solution-Get category ID
This is probably a lot easier if it's possible. I need to get the category ID of a thumbnail's parent image from theme_display_thumbnails in theme.php, from inside the foreach($thumb_list as $thumb)
eg. $thumb['cat_id'] (but <--that doesnt work)
