Category manager page adjustment needed
« on: June 04, 2007, 10:12:29 am »

Hi gang,

I would like to make an adjustment to the category manager page. I have a lot of categories and subcategories and because of that the category manager page tends to become a bit overwhelming.

What i would like is either to have each category boxed in.. i mean lines between all categories. Or even better would be that the category which your mouse pointer is on lights up in a different colour then the rest. Would that be possible ?

Thanks
Hein

Yes: the category manager needs review in terms of scalability and usability. It is scheduled to be changed for cpg1.5.x. One of the projects on the "Google Summer of Code 2007" agenda is to provide an Ajax API that could be used to accomplish what you're up to. We'd appreciate to see you code change suggestions.

I read about the AJAX api in the 1.5 documentation. That is indeed a big step forward in the usability and scalability of the category manager.
I would love to code the changes i need but i have long ago discovered that i have two left hands when it comes to coding  :-\
So should anyone feel this is something that he or she can code with eyes closed feel free to post the result here. Otherwise i will wait until 1.5 comes out.

Thanks
