[Solved]: batch upload image problem
« on: March 07, 2004, 01:39:59 am »

Hi , when i try batch upload , i get the following  problem:

(https://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhomepage.ntlworld.com%2Fshawn.gates%2Fbulkerror.JPG&hash=85a15849813e9ec020df982bb6fc3af84595584c)

i have looked in forums & tried these
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=503 :this test works fine

& also i have set my max script & max img load to 200

i curently have 1000 pics in my album ,
running xp pro / cpg 1.2 / mysql 4.0.18

when i run phpinfo.pph .all options in gd are enabled

any ideas will be really apreciated.

more info: if i upload the selected pics & then go into batch upload to look at the same folder , then the thumbnails work fine ??

just to be sure: did you set the permissions to the folder the pics are in appropriately (CHMOD 755 or 777, depending on your server config)?

I think it's somehow connected with watermark hack also...

@xtreme: They are fine. Just check them out when you publish it. They will be ok. At least it works for me and since the situation for you is the same - it will work for you also.

Xtreme:

i had the same problems, it works, but as you said your guessing if it succeeded or failed. Since a couple of days it started to show the pictures correctly. It happened after i stopped ftp'ing my pictures to \gallery\albums\userpics\nameofthealbum, but to \gallery\albums\nameofalbum as your supposed to do.

So chk where your ftping your photos to. it should go to \gallery\albums\nameofalbum!!

It has something to do with rights of the files in userpics dir, but don't know what

And after ftp'ing also select all the pics and chmod them 777 before u batch add them. Don't know if it helps, but give it a try

if you CHMODed the albums folders correctly in the first place and enabled propagation to child objects, this should also apply to new folders and files created/uploaded by ftp (if your server is configured peroperly), so Widi's suggestion shouldn't apply. You can however try it, since it won't hurt and you might be one of the rare    examples of wevserver misconfiguration...

when i am on the webserver & i click into edit photo mode , i get a prewiew of all the pics & i can go wild. but when i use any other pc , log in as admin & try go into edit mode i only get 1 or 2 thumbnails ....weird

OMG! Of course you don't have CHMOD on windows, but you have a permision system as well. You shouldn't run your own webserver publicly if you don't know anything about permissions...
If you have a WAMP (Windows/Apache/MySQL/PHP) server, you'll have to find out what user the apache service runs under and set the permissions in the file system (yes: windows explorer) for that particular user.
If you're running IIS, look for a user called IUSR_hostname (where hostname is the name of your server) and set the permissions for this particular user.
Have I mentioned that running your own webserver is a high risk if you don't know what you're doing? I have? Can't hurt to say this again...

Hey there i am sorry , i have just enabled , the password option on my site so to have a look ou will need username: cpm & pass: support

@Gaugau: i am not sure where i am going wrong !!!
when i try edit my pics on the server tehre is no problem at all , but when i do it remotely , the thumbnails dont apear ..or only 1 or 2 do.

i am lost would this be a gd issue or just a server config ?

if you could just point me in the right direction i would be very gratefull.

if http upload works and batch-add fails, it's 99% sure not a GD issue, but server mis-config.

Please understand that this board doesn't explicitly deal with server config, and I'm not willing to look into a server on someone's local machine: I tried the link once, it was down - I will never try again. I have a low tolerance threshold for people running their own server, sorry - can't be bothered.

@gaugau:  understood , i will verify that i have looked into all posible optoins to make sure the server is running corectl.

also sorry , it was never my intention to iretate you  :?
