comments not going through to e-mail

Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 550 must be authenticated

This is what I received in the forum
but...
None of my members are receiving their comment left on their photos.
I just had the site upgrade by Vee, who I found on this support site.

Can someone tell me if there is a switch I need to turn on and where to find it to enable comment to be sent to email.

If you're using a custom od, then ask the person who created the mod for you. Is your coppermine gallery capable to send emails at all (using the ecard feature for example)? If yes, then the custom mod is to blame. If it doesn't send emails at all, then try using sendmail instead of SMTP, or review your SMTP settings. We can't help you much with this. For a start, post a link to your site and a non-admin test user account with the privilege to send ecards.
