issue with truncated comments

I was just why comments are often made small with these symbols (...)

often making the comments unreadable.  It isn't bad language that's doing it, it just seems to do it at random.

I have searched but couldn't find anything.

Also was looking at the logo competition gallery and noticed that it has happened to some of the comments there too.

Any help would be great.

That happens to words that are longer than the maximum word length specified in config.
