Bulk Resizing Thumbnails

Hi,
I have a gallery of about 18,000 pictures and want to resize the thumbnails. However, using the thumbnail resize util on admin tools it'll take forever to do this. Is there a hack or any other suggestions how I could resize the thumbs in a more time efficient way.
