Hi there,

The 2007 MySQL Conference & Expo will take place on April 23rd-26th in Santa Clara, California. As last year, we are arranging a ".ORG-Pavilion" where we would like to give Open Source Projects related to or based on MySQL an opportunity to showcase their work.

Please see http://www.mysqlconf.com/ for more details about the upcoming conference and http://www.mysqlconf.com/pub/w/45/dotorg.html for a list of projects that were present last year.

I was wondering if you or somebody else from the Coppermine Community would be interested in representing and demonstrating your application there. If you would like to learn more about this, please contact me directly or the MySQL Community Relations team at community@mysql.com.

Thanks in advance! Keep up the good work.

Bye,
    Lenz

Sounds interessting. However, this is a budget issue - Coppermine is running on zero budget, so the travel cost probably is too high. Only one dev team member resides at the US west coast.

This is understandable. Unfortunately MySQL AB can not pay for your travel and accomodation. Here's what we will provide:

  • Free floor space (i.e. a table, and two chairs, power sockets)
  • Internet access (WLAN or Ethernet)
  • Free conference passes: you will receive one full conference pass that you can share with your other team members. This one allows you to also attend the tutorials on Tuesday and the sessions on Thursday.  In addition to that one, we provide up to two free exhibitor (P&S) passes per project, which will allow entrance to the exhibition hall and the vendor sessions.

What you need to bring/prepare:

  • Your own computers/demo equipment
  • Banners, flyers, other marketing material (e.g. Demo-CDs, Merchandise)

Maybe you can find one or two active community people located in California that would be interested in attending? Or take a look at what the phorum.org people did: they asked their users to donate: http://www.phorum.org/phorum5/read.php?14,119702

And they succeeded: http://doughboy.wordpress.com/2007/01/30/phorum-team-at-2007-mysql-conference/
