upload file size
« on: January 20, 2007, 04:15:43 am »

I just installed Coppermine 1.4.8.  When uploading jpg pictures greater than 1.1MB, I get an error "exceeded permitted file by CPG"  but gif pictures below 74k load fine.  I converted my jpg pics to gif and they uploaded but they look grainy - not good at all.

What should the pics be jpg, tif, gif and 256 colors?

How can I get around the grainy look?

First of all, don't use cpg1.4.8 - it's mandatory to upgrade to the most recent stable version (currently cpg1.4.10). Check your "method for resizing pics" - use GD2 instead of GD1. If this doesn't solve your issues, do exactly as suggested in http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_trouble
