Help on Coppermine layout
« on: January 16, 2007, 08:54:37 am »

I don't know if I'm in the right section, but I have 2 questions.

I've been trying to customize my Coppermine layout (Kind of hard, since I don't really know php). I haven't done much on the layout, but I've taken out all the options I didn't need. http://www.beautiful-illusion.org/photography/index.php

1) How do I move the "1 files, last one added on Jan 15, 2007" and other album info, to the left? I want to take out the space between the thumbnail and the album info.

2) How do I move the "1 files in 4 albums with 0 comments viewed 1 times" ? I want to send it at the bottom.

Thank you!!

Ok, so "1) How do I move the "1 files, last one added on Jan 15, 2007" and other album info, to the left? I want to take out the space between the thumbnail and the album info."

You don't need to know php to do this but rather html (and maybe some css). In this case, it's pretty simple. If you don't have $template_album_list in your theme.php, copy it from the sample theme.php and paste it into yours.
Code: [Select]
// HTML template for the album list
$template_album_list = <<<EOT

<!-- BEGIN stat_row -->
        <tr>
                <td colspan="{COLUMNS}" class="tableh1" align="center"><span class="statlink">{STATISTICS}</span></td>
        </tr>
<!-- END stat_row -->
<!-- BEGIN header -->
        <tr class="tableb_compact">
<!-- END header -->
<!-- BEGIN album_cell -->
        <td width="{COL_WIDTH}%" valign="top">
        <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
        <tr>
                <td colspan="3" height="1" align="left" valign="top" class="tableh2">
                        <span class="alblink"><a href="{ALB_LINK_TGT}"><b>{ALBUM_TITLE}</b></a></span>
                </td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
                <td colspan="3">
                        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" /><br />
                </td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
                <td align="center" valign="middle" class="thumbnails">
                        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="{THUMB_CELL_WIDTH}" height="1" class="image" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; border: none;" alt="" /><br />
                        <a href="{ALB_LINK_TGT}" class="albums">{ALB_LINK_PIC}<br /></a>
                </td>
                <td>
                        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" />
                </td>
                <td width="100%" valign="top" align="left" class="tableb_compact">
                        {ADMIN_MENU}
                        <p>{ALB_DESC}</p>
                        <p class="album_stat">{ALB_INFOS}</p>
                </td>
        </tr>
        </table>
        </td>
<!-- END album_cell -->
<!-- BEGIN empty_cell -->
        <td width="{COL_WIDTH}%" valign="top">
        <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
        <tr>
                <td height="1" valign="top" class="tableh2">
                        <b>&nbsp;</b>
                </td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
                <td>
                        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" /><br />
                </td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
                <td width="100%" valign="top" class="tableb_compact">
                    <div class="thumbnails" style="background-color:transparent"><img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="{SPACER}" border="0" class="image" style="border:0;margin-top:1px;margin-bottom:0" alt="" /></div>
                </td>
        </tr>
        </table>
        </td>
<!-- END empty_cell -->
<!-- BEGIN row_separator -->
        </tr>
        <tr class="tableb_compact">
<!-- END row_separator -->
<!-- BEGIN footer -->
        </tr>
<!-- END footer -->
<!-- BEGIN tabs -->
        <tr>
                <td colspan="{COLUMNS}" style="padding: 0px;">
                        <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
                                <tr>
                                       {TABS}
                                </tr>
                        </table>
                </td>
        </tr>
<!-- END tabs -->
<!-- BEGIN spacer -->
        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="7" border="" alt="" /><br />
<!-- END spacer -->

EOT;

Now we need to move columns around such as:
Code: [Select]
                <td width="100%" valign="top" align="left" class="tableb_compact">
                        {ADMIN_MENU}
                        <p>{ALB_DESC}</p>
                        <p class="album_stat">{ALB_INFOS}</p>
                </td>

{ALB_DESC} is the album description and {ALB_INFOS} is the "1 files, last one added on Jan 15, 2007" stuff. So we'll move it before the thumbnail code and get something like this:
Code: [Select]
// HTML template for the album list
$template_album_list = <<<EOT

<!-- BEGIN stat_row -->
        <tr>
                <td colspan="{COLUMNS}" class="tableh1" align="center"><span class="statlink">{STATISTICS}</span></td>
        </tr>
<!-- END stat_row -->
<!-- BEGIN header -->
        <tr class="tableb_compact">
<!-- END header -->
<!-- BEGIN album_cell -->
        <td width="{COL_WIDTH}%" valign="top">
        <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
        <tr>
                <td colspan="3" height="1" align="left" valign="top" class="tableh2">
                        <span class="alblink"><a href="{ALB_LINK_TGT}"><b>{ALBUM_TITLE}</b></a></span>
                </td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
                <td colspan="3">
                        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" /><br />
                </td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
                <td width="100%" valign="top" align="left" class="tableb_compact">
                        {ADMIN_MENU}
                        <p>{ALB_DESC}</p>
                        <p class="album_stat">{ALB_INFOS}</p>
                </td>
                <td align="center" valign="middle" class="thumbnails">
                        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="{THUMB_CELL_WIDTH}" height="1" class="image" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; border: none;" alt="" /><br />
                        <a href="{ALB_LINK_TGT}" class="albums">{ALB_LINK_PIC}<br /></a>
                </td>
                <td>
                        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" />
                </td>
        </tr>
        </table>
        </td>
<!-- END album_cell -->
<!-- BEGIN empty_cell -->
        <td width="{COL_WIDTH}%" valign="top">
        <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
        <tr>
                <td height="1" valign="top" class="tableh2">
                        <b>&nbsp;</b>
                </td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
                <td>
                        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" /><br />
                </td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
                <td width="100%" valign="top" class="tableb_compact">
                    <div class="thumbnails" style="background-color:transparent"><img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="{SPACER}" border="0" class="image" style="border:0;margin-top:1px;margin-bottom:0" alt="" /></div>
                </td>
        </tr>
        </table>
        </td>
<!-- END empty_cell -->
<!-- BEGIN row_separator -->
        </tr>
        <tr class="tableb_compact">
<!-- END row_separator -->
<!-- BEGIN footer -->
        </tr>
<!-- END footer -->
<!-- BEGIN tabs -->
        <tr>
                <td colspan="{COLUMNS}" style="padding: 0px;">
                        <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
                                <tr>
                                       {TABS}
                                </tr>
                        </table>
                </td>
        </tr>
<!-- END tabs -->
<!-- BEGIN spacer -->
        <img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="7" border="" alt="" /><br />
<!-- END spacer -->

EOT;

If you want you can also remove the spacers and see how you like the layout. Play with it to get the results you're after. If you display albums inside of categories, you'll also want to do the same with $template_album_list_cat.

Did you read the manual first???? Taking 2 minutes to backup your files can save you hours of wondering what you screwed up.
