User uploads for Admin Categories/Albums
« on: January 13, 2007, 05:07:26 am »

from what we see you guys don't have support for User uploads for Admin Categories/Albums. You should get this.
if you don't knwowhat we mean lets say I am a Admin @ our gallery and I setup a Category and call it Entertainment then setup Albums under this Category. Well the way you guys have this now members/useres can't upload to our Categories/Albums. & you should have this. lso you may want ot take a look at Photo Post (http://www.PhotoPost.com) and you may want to look into getting a gallery that has support for everything they have. You also may wanna take a look at he way their setup is. because withthem all we need ot do is setup Categories & sub Categories. And we are all set. with coppermine we need ot go in and setup our Categories/Sub Categories then setup Albums for them. The way you have this right now not only make sit harder to setup our gallery but we can't setup sub albums.

I notice PhotoPost is $129 and not open source.

By the way, you don't need sub-categories, but they are possible if you choose to use them.  It works like this (without sub-categories):

Gallery --> Category --> Album

or
Gallery --> Fruit --> Apples

or
Gallery --> Holidays --> Nürnberg 2007

With Sub-Categories:

Gallery --> Holidays --> America --> San Francisco

Uploads by regular users into public galleries are possible if you set permissions up accordingly. Please read the documentation.
We know Photopost - they have "adopted" many features Coppermine came with in the first place. But they are not actual competitors - as Eruss pointed out, Photopost is not open source, but a commercial app.

Yes PhotoPost is $129 and may not be open source. but they have a much better system then CPG has.

1. their setup looks alot better then the CPG setup.

2. their setup is alot esier to work withthen the CPg setup.

3.They don't use albums they use Catagories & Sub catagories this makes it alot esier to setup the the way CPg has it.

4.They have a area where we can edit all the permision settings for the Catagores & sub Catagories. We can set them all at once instead of going into every one 1 by 1 and seting them up liek CPG has right now.

Anywas this is just 4 reason that make Photo Post a much better and eiser gallery to run. You may say if we like Photo Post that much why don't we use them instead of CPg well it's because at his time their is no plugin for PHP Fox (http://www.PHPFox.com) that will work with Photo Post & they have one for CPG.

Stop posting your silly PhotoPost adverts. As suggested in the other invalid thread: buy a copy of PhotoPost if you think that it is better.
