are uploaded pics compressed by coppermine with php libraries?
« on: January 06, 2007, 10:18:21 am »

Hi,

I am new to coppermine, and setting up a site with it.

I see that I can set the maximum space allowed for members, is there an optimal value?

I also see that the size of the uploaded photo can be maximized. Is the photo compressed after upload on the server?

Thank you,

Gyuri

No, depends on your preferences and your webserver setup. There is no default or optimal value.

Is the photo compressed after upload on the server?
No. It gets resized if you set up Coppermine to do so.

Dear GauGau,

Thank you for your kind response!

I played around with the settings, and cp resizes very nicely the pics with gd. I tried uploading 1mb jpegs and they ended up as 30 kb, with hardly any loss of quality.

I noticed that in Admin Tools I can delete the original size photos to save space, can this be configured automatically after each upload, so that after resizing it throws away the uploaded photo?

Thank you,

Gyuri

Yes: in Coppermine's config, set "Auto resize images that are larger than max width or height". Please respect the "one question per thread" policy in the future and read up the documentation before asking questions.
