This would be nice to take advantage of the aspect ratio of the screen - you could then get the filmstrip like a side bar thing and the image on the right next to it.  Means that you wouldn't need to scoll down to rate or comment.

Resolution detection scripts are buggy, that's why there won't be such a feature built into the coppermine core. There are themes with vertical film strips already, it's entirely up to you (as a theme designer) to come up with the needed modification. Take a look at "Classic filmstrip vertical" for an example. Not a valid feature request. Marking accordingly.
