Registered user can upload single file but not multiple
« on: October 21, 2006, 11:42:48 pm »

I have uploaded successfully via FTP, Batch Add and Web Publishing Wizard but I am having a problem with registered users uploading via http.  For some reason it works fine if, under "Groups", I allow only one upload box.  Any more than that (eg, the default 5) and a file seems to upload but when I try to add a title and description, I get the message "The previous file could not be placed.  You have successfully placed all the files."

I am the gallery administrator, but the script was installed and is maintained by someone else.

The gallery is at http://tinyurl.com/yxultf.  I have enabled debug mode and set up a test user account.  Username is "billy" and password = "password".  The folder with upload permission is "/sports/polo".

For troubleshooting purposes, you should do as suggested in the upload troubleshooting section of the docs even if single uploads appear to work fine.
I recommend checking permissions on the albums folder (and everything within it), especially the userpics subfolder. The subfolder that should correspond to the user "billy" which should be http://www.sandhurst.mod.uk/cpg/albums/userpics/10005/ doesn't exist, so I guess the user the webserver runs under doesn't have the needed permissions.
Side-note: you're running cpg1.4.8, you should upgrade to cpg1.4.9.

Sorry - I thought I had put it in the upload support board.  Mea culpa.

When trying to set directory permissions I get "500 'SITE CHMOD 777 /cpg/albums/userpics': command not understood" - and  I recall now that the site is hosted on a Windows server so I need to speak to tech support.  Thanks for help given so far.

Then do exactly as suggested in the permissions section of the docs - there's a chapter for setting permissions on Windows as well. If this doesn't help, ask your webhost for support.

"The server doesn't support changing file permissions" so it's off to tech support for me.  Thanks for your detailed advice though.
