Change startpage to mysite.php
« on: October 04, 2006, 03:34:53 pm »

Hey

Is it possible to change the startpage of my webpage gallery... Now it starts coming up with index.php, when I'm typing www.mysite.com on the browser... I want to have the browser to show mysite.php as a startpage instead of index.php... Is that possible? I know how to change it fast, but then everything else is still the same...

Rename index.php to something else (e.g. gallery_index.php) and then rename your strtpage (mysite.php) to index.php

or (if your webhost allows you this) re-assign the index file for the folder coppermine resides in to your splash page.

Sami if I do that, then I also have to change the menu links right?

GauGau I don't understand what you mean? Can you explain it, or can you code it  for me If I post the index.php file inside here?

I will recommand u the best way to do this.

Create ur own homepage then save it with filename index.shtml

and upload it simply to ur website

I did the same in my site of hotels

check this same http://www.b4uhotels.com/ is equal to http://www.b4uhotels.com/index.shtml

while check this http://www.b4uhotels.com/index.php

both are index file but servers gives priority to index.shtml rather than index.php

Enjoy the trick ;)

Its my first support effort to coppermine forum and hope i will do the same support in future too..
i will try for best answers

Thanks!

b4uphotos that is very smart trick :) but I've got a problem, because mysite.php file includes php programming language and that will not work in shmtl file type.

Ask you webhost what other extensions are allowed then and have precedence over index.php, or use the splash page method I suggested.

Couldn't mysite.php be listed as the index file? There's support for default.whateverextension
