All themes are in their own directory under themes. You'll need to edit the style.css template.html, and theme.php.

If you're going to work on a new theme, might as well upgrade to v 1.4 and then customize the theme. Otherwise, you'll have to update the 1.3 theme to 1.4.

To find out which CSS class controls the "Powered by Coppermine Photo Gallery" tag, take a look at the html output or use one of the tools we recommend (Web Developer Extension for Firefox or Web Accessibility Toolbar for Internet Explorer).
