New logo
« on: September 27, 2003, 02:21:40 pm »

The look of the standard logo didn't mix well with our site design, so we've created a new one and thought we'd share it with you:

Also, we'd like to make the logo clickable so that it points to this website (coppermine.sf.net). Is there a template that we need to edit to accomplish that?

Larger, traditional version:

In PNG format, editable in Macromedia Fireworks (with layers, etc.)

Cool Logo

For linking it to Coppermine site you will have to edit the template.html
Code: [Select]
<a href="index.php"><img src="themes/default/images/site_logo.png" alt="" border="0" />
Look for a line like above and change the index.php to http://coppermine.sf.net

wow what a wonderful logo..
do you mind if I use it on my site? It will look like this:
http://photo.enctu.org/
The site is currently under final testing, and will be a free photo album service for students of National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan.
I would truly appreciate it if you could let us use it~  :P

thanks for the the logo - as I pointed out in http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=8 , we could also use some other graphics ressources, like banners and buttons *hint*...

precisely!
This is what we need:
- button 80 x 31
- button 88 x 31
- mini-banner 156x60
- half-size banner 234x60
- full-size banner 468x60

don't over-animate (if at all), please!

@maciek:
your logo is truly much better than the old one; I changed it on the board - thank you.
Could you also do the buttons in a similar way?

Thanks again

Hehe, I didn't expect you'd like it so much :) Yes, you can use it, and I'll try doing the banners/buttons in near future (I'm quite busy at the moment).

What is the font name used for the Coppermine logo? To me somehow the letters don't look right on the new logo used on this board. Isn't there a better slogan than 'your online photo album'? Who would set these parameters? Like font name to be used and slogan?

Tarique,

the shape of the corners are easy to change. I was more concerned about the name of the font face and the slogan (like: premier php photo gallery) to agree upon. The rest is not hard.

here are a couple of samples with less rounded corners:

one showing some 'copper' in the name and the other with simple black lettering

rather than changing the image file name I overwrote the one with the 'too rounded corners' and so it does not show any more, sorry!

Actually this image
(http://mil-sim.net/a/folder_coppermine_large.png)
I like best in terms of fonts and effects - if you can just get the antialiasing on the border of corners right this design is perfect IMO.

Just use black for  "Coppermine"  and the old slogan  - we will let the users decide on the premier part....

What are you using for creation of images? The bevel on your new image doesn't look right - it is getting cut off on the corners

BUT hey this is just my  opinion

Tarique

P.S. Damn I am now tempted to try my hand at this ....

for these 'quicky' samples I used Photoshop. For better looking round corners it is best to use Adobe Illustrator as it can create vector based graphics that won't show jagged edges.

I quote from the Adobe Illustrator description of vector graphics:

"A vector graphic is resolution-independent--that is, it can be scaled to any size and printed on any output device at any resolution without losing its detail or clarity. As a result, vector graphics are the best choice for type (especially small type) and bold graphics that must retain crisp lines when scaled to various sizes--for example, logos."

If you want me to 'clean up' your present logo please tell me the name of the font face used. I have thousands of fonts and can find the exact font.

And is the 'your' in 'your online photo album' supposed to be red and the rest orange?
