Good effort - may be you can tell the other designers how to get the antialiasing so perfect...

How about one replacing eye with a camera

Why not stick to the right sizes when creating logos?

Like 468 x 60 pixles?

One in PNG format (30kb)

And the same in JPG format (much smaller file size 12kb)

The flower is a section of Illustrators stock images free for the public to use. The font is Moonbeam.

True - a point well made :)

Your samples are very beautiful - can we have the PHP Web Gallery in a more visible color

Folks comment on these please

I like that also.

I think it would be better if you removed the stalk from the flower, because it looks odd just chopped like that, and it is also difficult to see the 'n' in front of it.

I like it.  I agree with jack, the stalk makes it hard to see the n.  I don't think the image will be hurt if the stalk is removed.

Sorgeri I like the design, very professional looking. That is an awesome font, and a nice blend. :D

joelpt, nice design, the eye is a bit distracting from the text, which is the real statement. Eyes will always draw attention.

Outstanding!  The 468x60 image looks better now that the text isn't interefered with.  I especially like the 3d text effect on the 2nd logo.

Very nice - well done.  Make sure the rounded corners are transparent. The "3D" text could do with a darker outline/shadow.

Sogeri: that's just amazing!

Can I make some suggestions?

  • I think you could use darker shadow for the "PHP Web Gallery", or perhaps 1-3 pixel black outline with the outer pixels being grey (antialias)
  • Also, maybe you should move "PHP Web Gallery" about 4-8 pixels to the left so it's not too close to border.
  • Upload as PNG and GIF (Internet Explorer doesn't deal well with transparency in PNG) instead of JPG.

It's in PNG format, with layers and all that, created using a licenced copy of Macromedia Fireworks. Font name is Square 721 BT, I have the permission to use it. Using White(tm) and Black(tm) colours, and True Orange(tm), used under licence from Mother Nature, Inc.

With AA, as per request:

Here the same images in PNG format, supposedly 'transparent'. Depending on the background they will appear transparent. True tranparency can only be achieved in GIF format but then the images lose a lot as most colors are stripped out. I can make them with white, black and Coppermine blue backgrounds.

Anyway, here they are, one with a darker outline of the 3D text.
banner 468 x 60 pixels

banner 234 x 60 pixels

I think that in the end all logos will have to be uniform, not some with 3D text and some without. But I am happy to make those as well. Like this one:

I worked out a way to make the images transparent in GIF without losing too much definition. Have a look and let me know:

Maciek,

thanks. Glad you like it. I moved the "PHP Web Gallery" a bit to the left and darkened the shadow.

Hmm... there's still too little contrast between dark orange and pink. What if you changed "PHP gallery" to blue? Sorry for nitpicking...

BTW, GIF is the best choice because IE doesnt display transparent PNGs well.

I don't take it as nitpicking. Just working to the final version taking in every ones views. After all everyone is supposed to be kind of happy with it. 'PHP Web Gallery' changed to blue!

Okay, here are the latest GIF versions. Seems that since PNG formated images don't show right in IE we might as well forget that one.

my two cents...
I like the letters fatter.
The last of that series of four looks a little anemic...
With the first font the shadowed text looks better.
In the last one if the body of the letters was round out rather than grooved in and PHP Web Gallery in blue, I would say that might the best yet..
Although the flower does look pretty sharp... I like the camera idea more than the flower. It's more inclusive than a flower (we all take pictures with a camera but not all take pics of flowers)...could we get a sharper or realistic  looking camera maybe?
