transfering database, help with PHPmyadmin
« on: August 01, 2006, 04:23:52 am »

Hello
ok iam editing my post because i found some useful info by searching a bit more
but i still dont understand why i think the gallery folder i downlaoded doesnt have all my pictures
and i have NO idea of how to use MYsql and PHP my admin

iam in the middle of changing hosting, i downloaded all my files to my computer including the folder of my coppermine gallery, but i was surprised that when i downloaded it was really small, i have 1.3Gb of pictures but the folder i downloaded to my computer isnt that big, and iam really sure thats the folder of the copeprmine gallery
So i was wondering if when i upload that folder to my new host will the gallery be the same as the one in my old hosting?

maybe info you could use:

my gallery: www.paramorefans.com/photos
the folder for my gallery:  public_html/photos
i downlaoded that "photos" folder but it wasnt that big, so i dont know where are the other pictures.

Thanks in advance

You don't transfer files using phpMyAdmin. Don't edit out your postings.

Is your question how to restore a database dump?

That's what "restoring a dump" means. Actually, this is done in the same way you created the mySQL dump in the first place: you use a tool like phpMyAdmin, click on the SQL tab and paste your dump into the textbox and hit "go" (you may have to create the database first if it doesn't exist).
However, this is not an actual Coppermine issue, but overall skills needed to run and maintain any database-driven app. I suggest googling for a phpMyAdmin tutorial.

thanks will do

one last thing
i downloaded the CPG folder to my computer right, and theres is a folder inside of it called "albums" which is supposed to hold all the pictures and folders of the gallery
but this folder doesnt have(at least thats what i think) all the albums and pictures of my gallery,
it downloaded like 7 folders and one of them is called "userpics" and that folder has a bunch of pictures

my gallery has around  9000 pictures but i cant find them in the folder i downlaoded

There's something fishy if you don't have 18,000 files inside the albums folder and all the subfolders within it.

is there another way to download all the albums and pictures at the same time?
i just double checked with 2 different FPT clients and iam suppose to have all the pictures in my computer,
which is not true becuase iam suppose to have like 1.2gb in pics and i downloaded around 400 mbs

You'll have to ask your webhost for support then.

The FTP server probably limits the number of files it will display in a directory. If you have more than a few thousand files in the same folder then you may not be able to see them all. Your host can lift this restriction. Alternatively, make a backup of your site with whatever control panel your host supplies for you.
