By 'subfolder' do you mean 'subalbums'? or physical folder (directory) in albums directory?

If you meant 'subalbums' then the answer is no. You cannot create subalbums in cpg. Though you can create sub-categories.

yes exactly, i would need subalbums because in each album i have a folder named "video" to separate picture and video.
For example :

Holidays (category)
    Cannes (album)
       videos (subalbum)
    London (album)
       videos (subalbum)

If it's not possible , could you advise in order to keep this kind of tree?

You can keep something like this...

Holidays (category)
  Cannes (sub-category)
    Photos (album)
    Videos (album)
  London (sub-category)
    Photos (album)
    Videos (album)

in fact i have a problem .
If i create subcategory, this means each name of category will be visible from anonymouse users ?
Can we put a category invisible from anonymouse users like for the albums?

Not from the core functionality. And afaik there is no mod either.

what a pity!
So i have to choice between staying with the names of subcatagorie visible for anonymous users or to merge photos and video in an album. Is it correct?

Basically: yes. Not sure what is so wrong about showing categories to guests.
Anyway, initial question solved.

They're too lazy to try and make their product better with subalbums. No offense Coppermine but we aren't all programmers.

That's a little too bad, I haven't eaten yet today.

But honestly, I do apologize for my words. It was late last night and I had a short fuse when I had stumbled onto the obstacle of mixed categories (as in containing albums and categories, but finding no sub-albums could be made). I misinterpreted another thread in the feature requests for sub-albums as Coppermine being apathetic to the needs of others. As I stated in the other thread, it is not the programmers' duty to fulfill every person's request and suggestion, since it is their project and time on the line. Again, I am sorry for my unneccessary statement. The gallery is the best I have come across so far but when I saw that what looked like an important feature that wouldn't be tried for in the future (at least the thread in the future request had stated by a few developers that they saw no need for the function and others were welcome to try, but so few users have the knowledge to actually know how to. A project like a php gallery is like a php web site in general--it's clear to the developer how things work and why things have been put here and there but when a new person comes along, it can seem very confusing), a bit of a stumbling block for me because it meant I'd have to again start researching different galleries.
