Brazilian-Portuguese Language
« on: July 10, 2006, 05:58:33 pm »

Hi guys,

I've just updated to the latest version of coppermine (1.4.8 stable) but now, some words of my data base are been reading wrong. I changed the Character encoding from default to Unicode but the problem persists.
Any Sugestion?
I'm already working in a brazilian-portuguese language to share with the community.

If the textual content of your database (captions, album names etc.) are in iso8859-X, then switching to utf-8 is not enough - you'll have to convert your database content as well (using charsetmgr.php that comes with coppermine and is being mentioned on the update page). This has been asked and answered very often in detail, please search before posting.
Are you trying to use the outdated cpg1.3.x brazilian language file with cpg1.4.x? This can be tricky, you can't use old language files to administer your gallery. Please post a link to your page for details.

When I go to http://www.cagarras.com.br/galeria/charsetmgr.php
"Your site is already configured to use utf-8. You don't need this script and should leave this page."
I'm not using the outdated cpg 1.3.5 brazilian language, I am adjusting (they are almost the same) the cpg 1.4 portuguese language to brazilian portuguese language.

Well, for me (in Brazil) it's on air.
I've got the same character problem in another gallery that I upgraded yestarday night:
www.clubedosmarimbas.com.br/galeria/
In the database I have:
collation: latin1_swedish_ci
characeter set: uft8
The question is why before the invasion on my gallery the database works perfectly with the same parameters?

Well,

I edit the albums and re-typed all words that were wrong (missing and wrong characteres) and now the gallery it's ok.
Unfortunelly the pictures table of my database has now wrong words...
The problem was transfered from de gallery to the database.

Any sugestion?
