can't log on to index.php page
« on: July 06, 2006, 04:27:52 am »

I got this message when I tried to log onto the index page of my website:

"Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Access denied for user: 'Tony@localhost' (Using password: YES)"

I've check with the webhost - he thinks lies with the user name Tony.
But I have never created this user.

what's the problem?  How do I correct the problem (I've no idea) ?

can anybody advise - thanks.

You can check your mySQL data by downloading the include/config.inc.php file. Are you saying that when you try to login with one account name and password, the access denied comes up for "Tony..."?

Did you read the manual first???? Taking 2 minutes to backup your files can save you hours of wondering what you screwed up.

sorry, I did not make myself clear.

I've been logging on to the index.php page using IE.

It was Ok but the message came up yesterday.

Without access to my index.php page I cannot access the admin features, etc.etc.

I don't know what happened but I've checked the config page and the user name & password looks OK.
I can even create and test pages (using dreamweaver) and send up to the server and I can see the results when I launch these pages through dreamweaver.

But I just cannot use the browser and log on to the index.php page by typing in the address.

I'm lost at how to correct the problem - appreciate your help.  thanks.

At the moment, I can't access any page using the browser. The same error message comes up.

at your hosting control panel , you should have a Mysql databse manager
there you should define privilages for user to your cpg databse
give your "tony" user full privileges on cpg database

can you just create a new user for your cpg database and give that full privileges, and then put that user info. to config.inc.php?
