any chance that a email notification system be setup here to let us know when newer versions of Coppermine become available?

you can simply enable "NOTIFY" for Announcements and it will send you an email each time coppermine has a announcement (version release, new patch, Competitions and ....)

We're considering an XML feed with the latest news that will be emebedded into your admin user interface for future versions. This way, even users who are not security sensitive could see if there are newer versions or fixes.
