You can use the plugin "Full-Size Photos Access Control", on the plugin contributions board.  Make sure "Guests" or "Anonymous" (whatever you call the guests group) is UNCHECKED on the plugin config panel, and that should do it.  The plugin also has an option for a hover-message for unregistered users.

There's also a FAQ entry for blocking access for guests to the displayimage.php page which will prevent intermediate and full-size photos access.
